Taking a morning stroll down rue Cartier in Quebec City is quite an enjoyable experience, especially if it's summer time. Flowers adorn many of the houses and a general at ease feeling is present. There are a few noteworthy restaurants on this street. Le Cafe Krieghoff was recommended by one of the local guides as a good breakfast destination. There was a line at the entrance but by the time we checked out the neghbouring shops it was time for us to be seated .... Le Cafe Krieghoff in Quebec City
We were offered a table on the front patio. Tables are a bit close to each other. We ordered the regular breakfast fare which included coffee, eggs with sausages, fruit etc. Food was outstanding here. Warm plates were filled with fresh and wonderfully cooked entrees. Sausages were plump and tasted great. Eggs prepared just right. Coffee was dark and rich. Refills kept coming.
At the end of our meal came my favorite moment. Seeing other customers order croissants made me want to try one myself. Upon ordering the waitress noted that it will be a few minutes because they have to prepare it. Not in a hurry, we took our time to write postcards. The croissant was filled with chocolate, it was hot as if it had just come from the oven (probably did) and it just melted away in my mouth. Is this heaven I thought? This has to be one of the best tasting croissants I have ever had. Just for that you have to visit this restaurant. When I return to Quebec City I definitely will! Tr? magnifique!
