Many small towns have an ice cream shop that they are proud of and that locals call the best in the world. I suppose you acquire the taste and then anything else for the rest of your life cannot match that. The sweet delicious taste lingers in your mouth. Can't you feel and taste it right now? Our friends insisted that we try their local shop during a recent visit to Jaffrey in the Southern part of the state of New Hampshire. It does not take much to talk us into trying a new ice cream place.

I imagine that you would really have to be fortunate to visit this particular ice creamery since it is not open most of the year and since it is not close to any major byway. It serves its goodies only in the summer months and come October you have to wait for the next warm season. They do have a few more locations in New England so plan accordingly. Our friends tell us that this is the gathering place of the local folk, and that in the summer evenings here in Southern New Hampshire it can get quite crowded in front of Kimball Ice Cream. The parking lot is huge and it can accommodate many many cars. There is also a restaurant adjacent to it but we have not tried it out. The ice cream was delicious though. We got ice cream cravings after nine in the evening and drove to pick some up for the happy crowd back at home. During the time spent at the shop window we could not make up our mind. The first flavor was our favorite, almond joy. This particular one is one of the best ice cream flavors I have ever had. Creamy, sweet, almondy, milky, coconutty, buttery ... A perfect blend. The chocolates were good but not as good as almond joy. We also had a taste of other flavors and took a few with us. Our helper was superb and had the patience to provide us with multiple sample tastes and waited patiently as we pondered our decision as if it was a life changing one.

If your travels take you this way be sure to stop at this ice cream location and try the almond joy flavor. Mmmmm. I did not ask if they ship but it would have been an excellent question. Recommended. Really good stuff.
